Dr. Madlon T. Laster did her undergraduate work at Maryville College in Tennessee (1956). She taught in Wooster, Ohio and at Community School in Tehran, Iran before working on her Masters (1967) at George Peabody College for Teachers, now part of Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, Tennessee, while teaching in the Nashville-Davidson County School System. She and her husband lived in Beirut, Lebanon from 1967-1973, during which time she taught methods courses, a children’s literature course, and supervised student teachers at Beirut College for Women, now Lebanese American University. She completed her forty-two year teaching career in Winchester City Schools, Winchester, Virginia, in the city’s middle school, and earned her Ph.D. from George Mason University (1996). Her certificate in cognitive instruction (1987) was earned through Radford University in Virginia.
